Protein For Our Children

There are so many choices that our children have when it comes to nutrition. The sad thing is most of them are bad choices. What your kids are going to put into their bodies will effect many different aspects of their lives. It will effect their ability to focus, and energy levels. Of course, it will also cause them to be overweight and unhealthy.

Their body weight will affect everything in their future lives. Self esteem will drop to very low levels, and this will impede their ability to participate in social activities and especially physical activity. This in turn will snowball as they get older and it will be harder and harder for them to have the will and ability to lose the weight.

One of the areas that kids are lacking in is their daily protein intake. Sugary snacks and convenient microwave meals seem to be the more popular choice. This could be averted by something as easy and convenient as a great tasting protein shake, and some pretzels for example. So there is no real excuse that our children should be lacking in their protein.

Keeping low fat chocolate milk in the fridge instead of soda would be a great way to let them get their protein. While it does have sugar in it, they will more likely to reach for it than they would white milk. Give hard boiled eggs a try for a protein rich snack. Another good snack is a protein bar rather than a cereal bar. They are good in a pinch, and normally have 15 to 30 grams of protein per bar. You have to be careful though, some are loaded down with sugar.

The last one I would like to talk about is cottage cheese. You can do some cool stuff with it like just simply by putting some fruit in it. Pineapple is great, it fits with cottage cheese perfectly. Just try to keep some of these things in mind, none of them will complicate your day in the least.
