The Power of the Mind - Our Thoughts Shape Our Actions and Our BodyPosted on 02.08.2010 : Authored by Cody Harding-Calder
If you have spent any time at all looking into weight loss, than you would have come to the realization that there is one reason we gain weight; eating more calories than we burn in a day. This is not revolutionary information; in fact, it is often assumed that you know this if you are looking to lose weight. However, this notion of eating fewer calories than we burn in a day in order to lose weight is fairly abstract, and is resultantly proving to be quite difficult to implement in our lives. The difficulty of consuming fewer calories than we burn is so difficult for some of us that an entire billion dollar industry has been established in order to help individuals lose weight. As I pointed out earlier, the weight loss industry is largely driven by qualities which differentiate products. While some people are able to lose weight through various specialized products, programs, nutritionists, or personal trainers, the majority of us simply never meet our goals. Why is it that this happens? Do you find it suspicious that there is not one single miracle diet in existence? Personally I have had the privilege of being raised in a manner which lead me to develop the key ingredient to weight loss and fitness. Contrary to popular belief, it is not because of a fast metabolism. It is not because of a miracle exercise. It is simply because of my mental state and my ability to maintain it. I have personally met hundreds of individuals over the past 10 years that poses this exact same trait. They all varied in ages from 89 years to 17 years of age, men and women, each of them successful in meeting their fitness goals and every one of them were quite happy with their lives. Can you think of why? I wish that within the contents of this article I could provide you with an exact description of how to arrive at this point, but unfortunately it is not possible. The first step to finding your way to your goals is to know exactly where you are going. Some of us believe we have clear goals, yet the main problem people face when trying to lose weight is that they neglect to face the fact it will require more than abstract rules to arrive there. Yes diets and exercise can work, but for them to work you need to be in the right mental state. If you disagree with me, than just think back to one time where you didn't successfully accomplish what you sought out to do. I can assure you that you didn't fail because of a lack of skills, knowledge, or innate abilities; you failure only existed in your mind. It is in turn only through your mind that you will find the key to success. If you never give up, failure is impossible, period. Related Topics :: Mind Body Spirit |
